Three new frameworks secured
Case Study – Work Winning
Client – Balfour Beatty – Minor Signalling Frameworks: Western, Wessex and East Midlands
December 2018 – May 2019
Value – £50m
Contracting Model – PSA
Axial were again successful in supporting Balfour Beatty to secure three valuable frameworks for their new signalling business unit. Engaged during the PQQ stage we worked closely with BB’s senior management to devise a credible bid and delivery strategy for a new player in the market place. Utilising our expert knowledge of the rail sector and history of developing successful tenders we were able to secure the three most valuable frameworks, a significant achievement against experienced contractors. The workscope includes like for like replacement of signalling assets to templated design. The frameworks are for the duration of control period 6 with the potential to be extended into CP7 and demonstrate the huge spend that Network Rail are committing to signalling renewals.
What our clients said
‘Last weekend we successfully commissioned changes to the signalling system at Waterloo that has brought immediate performance improvements for trains into and out of Waterloo International Terminal platforms. This was delivered under the Wessex Minor Signalling Works framework which Axial were instrumental in us winning – along with wins on the frameworks in LNE and Western. These frameworks provide a fantastic platform for Balfour Beatty to re-launch it’s signalling business and my thanks go to the Axial team that supported this success.’
